    The World of Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hotstar etc.....

    I still remember my childhood days when we waited for Friday evening 'Oliyum Ozhiyum' song show in DD-Tamil to watch latest movie songs. There wasn't any other channel to compel/compete to change. On one occasion my family had booked tickets for 'Kadhalan' movie & a song from that movie was aired in 'Oliyum Ozhiyum'. It was great treat for us & it built the anticipation for the movie. 
    Then came the age of Sun TV, Raj TV, K TV, Vijay TV & then Star World, Movies, HBO, TLC, FOX Life etc. I used to plan my day around the various programmes. Today we have Amazon Prime, Netflix, Hotstar, Youtube & many other Pay-per view channels. After joining work I never really had time / energy to watch TV & the constant fight for screen space with Varun, Rajesh & my MIL made me to move on to Fire TV Stick. I was against having a TV in our bedroom for so many years & finally it was me who installed it. 
    Now i spend most of my weekends binge watching various shows. No more fighting for screen space. The downside to this change is with TV during commercials the family speaks with each other but with Play/Pause at convenience the speaking has reduced rapidly.

My Favorite Fruit!!!

        Jampaica/Rose Apple/Water Apple/Malay Apple/Paneer Koiya these are the different names of the same fruit and these are my absolute favorite. Its sweet, a bit tangy & juicy. Usually we eat with some rock salt & chilly powder.     In my native, this tree used to grow in my Aunt Padma Athai's home. I used to go there & eat all the fruit!!! When my father planted some fruit trees in our farm my only request was for these fruits & the plant that he had never bore any fruit till the end. Every time i used to go, i literally searched the plant with a fine tooth comb for any sight of fruit. When I was pregnant with Varun my craving for this fruit was at its peak & I used to cry wanting them. Pasta Mania

        Right from my childhood one of my favorite recipe was Macaroni. Mom used to make with all the vegetables & it used to be crunchy & spicy. Whenever i go home for Vacation from college this was on the menu. PV too shared my love for this macaroni of mom's. Amma used to pack this as lunch for PV & me during the car travel from Nagercoil to Chennai. But one hour into our journey we would practically polish off the whole box. I have tried so many times to replicate mom's recipe & have never been successful. Most days the longing for mom's macaroni taste has broken me completely.    So nowadays i dont try to replicate hers, instead have come up with numerous other variations. I make them with Paneer, Chicken, Vegetables, Eggs, etc. I usually eyeball the ingredients. The pasta that i tried recently for dinner was a super duper hit & i just wanted to share it here. The Long Awaited Vacation - Part 2

     On friday(Jan 17) I woke up around 6.30 and geared up with hoodie and walked outside. Two doggies Ladoo & Boondhi greeted me. The caretaker called out and i was able to see just two bisons from a herd of atleast 50 to 60 on a nearby grassland. We had breakfast and got to pluck fresh strawberry & Potatoes from their backyard. It was a unique & beautiful experience.     By 11, they took us on a Jeep drive to a nearby Waterfalls called Chilanthiyar. This place is accessible only by Four wheel rides that too only jeeps and by walk. There was no roads only small boulders and by the time we reached down to the falls my legs were literally shaking with fear. The water was super cold and Varun enjoyed walking in them. The walk down was steep and enjoyable.The walk up literally left me out of breath and we super struggled to reach our jeep.      The Jeep ride to the top of the hill was one of the most unforgettable experiences in my lifetime.
